On a hot, sticky Thursday afternoon, the Form III Hawks were stretching on the field, waiting for their opponent to arrive. One can only assume that the Trinity Valley bus was so afraid of the Hawks that it got stuck in traffic in order to delay the start of the game. The Hawks were about to play their second football game of the season against the Trojans.

After the last game against Grapevine Faith, Form III could only improve. The memory of last week’s defeat made the Hawks take the field with vengeance. “Last week was an experience…,” said left tackle Colin Bildner. “I mean, we lost bad. It made me want to win this week all the more.”

The Hawks looked much better on the field this game. Some of the standout improvements were Josh Acuna and Connor Smith, who both sacked the quarterback. “It was an adrenaline rush, ” said Connor. “It was my first tackle of the season. My teammates gave me high-fives. I felt great.” Both Josh and Connor made great tackles on the running back.

Quarterback Michael Murray threw a touchdown pass to Masaki Fraccaroli, who ran over 50 yards for the score. Oliver Currlin, who alternated drives as QB with Michael, scrambled out of the backfield for a 40 yard QB keeper for the Hawks’ second touchdown of the game. “I was nervous someone would tackle me from behind,” Oliver said the next morning. “When I crossed the goal-line, I thought I might cry.”

Middle linebacker Cole Boyd led the defense, making seven tackles. “I got the first ‘stopper’ of the season, plugging the hole and preventing a first down when it was fourth and one.”

In the end, the Hawks fell to the Trojans 32-12. Despite the loss, Form III has gained a lot of experience and plans to win the next game.
