A Peek into the Life of a Senior

The life of a senior may seem like something to look forward to, but the life is not as glamorous as people would like to think.  At the end of the eight-year journey, Cistercian seniors find that the toughest challenges lie in keeping their grades up, stressing about what college they will get into, and not letting the SKA attitude hinder the end of their high school life. However, most of the challenge comes in the first semester because that is when their college applications are going out and when their grades still matter. Many seniors may get so excited for college life that they will forget that their senior year isn’t over yet.  In order to truly experience the college life, one must first get past the “necessary evil”, as Ray Kitziger put it, that is senior year.  It is perhaps a purgatory that one must go through in order to reach college.

Along with all of the academic stress that they face, seniors also must come to terms with the reality that this will be the end of an eight-year long journey that the majority of the class has been a part of.  This will be their last season of each sport they will play, the last high school homecoming they will take part in, the second and final prom experience, and finally the last year that the entire form will be together as a whole. Perhaps some of them will go to the same college, but for the most part, the next time the form will be together in its entirety is at the Alumni Reunion.

For the most part, however, seniors aren’t focused on the stress as much as they are focused on enjoying time with each other, and in my opinion, this is the best way to deal with the last year of school.
