5 Thanksgiving To-Dos

5 Thanksgiving To-Dos

Ayden Kowalski, Writer

Thanksgiving has passed, and with it so many festivities that one may have missed a few. However, there are a few activities worth remembering, and as such, the Informer has listed them here for you and your kin. (Wait, I think that’s a Christmas slang…)

The Turkey Trot

Established in 1967, this Dallas tradition associated with the YMCA can be whatever you make of it. You can go on a fun run or seriously compete with others as a timed runner, if you’re up for it. You can run either an eight mile course or a 5K, or you can even just walk the eight miles with your dog. If you don’t like physical activity, then this event probably isn’t for you, but if you do, then this should be a great way to spend Thanksgiving.

Macy’s Parade

Even if you don’t live in New York, this parade is the event of a balloon enthusiast’s wildest dreams. Yes, seeing a massive six-story clown suspended in midair may not be what America needs, but at least someone can appreciate it. Also, if you are a Gwen Stefani fan, she sang during the parade, so this was the parade for you.

Black Friday

Very little in life is better than a sale, and with practically the whole world on sale, make sure that if you’re splurging anytime this year, you’re doing it on Black Friday. Also, make sure to stay safe, as people have been trampled during the great sprint.

Cowboys vs. Chargers

Remember when I said that very little in life is better than a sale? Well, watching football with your family, whether at home or away, might be one of those things. Even if you’re not too big of a football fan, you’ll probably like somebody that showed up for dinner, or if you’re at the game, at least they sell hot pretzels.

(Hot pretzels are great. I’d always recommend them.)

Share the Love

While many of us are warm and in good company for Thanksgiving, some of us unfortunately don’t have those luxuries. Any time is always a great time to help somebody in need, and if you can, try spending a little time  looking for a cause you support. While we can give plenty of thanks to our fortunes on our own, perhaps the greatest appreciation we can give is using our gifts to give to those without.
