John Paul II (JPII) fired onto the field with minds’ set on avenging last year’s loss. Their crew was also keen on showing their former head coach why it was mistake to become a Hawk rather than remain a Cardinal.

The game started off slowly, with the Cardinals on the Hawks’ tail, 13-14 at the half. The Hawks quickly corrected their first-half mistakes so that JPII a chance in the second half, quickly stamping out any fight in them. Sophomore Quarterback Max Schieferdecker was on the money with his passes (24/31,  358 yds, 4 TD) and senior running back Jack Albert scored from distance with 60 yards off a screen play. The screen was one of his 3 total touchdowns.

“A rough start, but we definitely showed what kind of team we were in the second half,” explained senior offensive lineman, Adam Hellinghausen.  The Hawks came out on top by a score of 42-13.
