The Hawks came out clicking on all cylinders in their January 22 match up against Fort Worth All Saints. The first quarter featured solid 3 point shooting and consistently solid defense. Senior forward Edo Bertocco was on fire, nailing 2 three pointers in the first quarter and four on the half. Rebounding was also an area the Hawks dominated, but the Saints scraped their way back; At half the score was 34-28. It was an uphill fight, but stellar play from Bertocco kept us ahead for a majority of the second half. The Saints made a game tying shot in the fourth quarter(54-54), forcing the first OT game for the Hawks this season. Despite both teams being worn out, a shootout forced a second overtime (72-72). Another three from red hot Bertocco (30 points) and game sealing free throws from senior forward Jack O’Toole sealed the victory. The Saints fought hard, but just couldn’t match every shot by the Hawks. Guards Thomas Williamson and Cole Gimenez contributed with 12 and 10 points, respectively, as the Hawks came out victorious 82-78.
