The music during homecoming can make the night one to remember or one to be forgotten. Each individual person has their own taste and their own genre and because of this it is extremely difficult for the DJ to make the night fun for all. To discover what music would speak to the larger student body, I asked a few students about the last track they put into their ears. One student, Kaosi Unini (Form V), last listened to 7/11 by Beyoncé and said “I listened to it because Beyoncé is my queen and mother”. His reasoning behind listening to this song was his devotion to the artist. Whereas, others like the song because of the lyrics and the hidden message behind the song. Like Jack Schieferdecker who (Form V) who last listened to R.I.C.O and said, “I like how despite their differences both Meek and Drake were able to come together to make this song.” Some people just like the song because it is catchy and have no regard for the meaning of the song. Marcelo Garcia (Form V) last listened to New Level and said, “I like the beat.” Whereas Joe Dunikoski (Form V) feels the opposite about songs because he last listened to Airplanes and said, “I like the song because it actually tells a story unlike many other songs.” Kaosi Unini is in charge for the music in every after party and said, “What makes planning a CPS after party playlist difficult is that the music that our generation listens to is mainly explicit and talks about subject that are usually not appropriate on school grounds.” Here are some songs that people from our school last listened to.

  • New Level, A$AP FERG – Marcelo (Form V)
  • Party Rock Anthem, – Joel (Form V)
  • Airplanes, – Joe (Form V)
  • Bonfire, Childish Gambino – Evan (Form V)

  • Rico, Meek Mill (feat. Drake) – Jack (Form V)
  • IV. Sweatpants, Childish Gambino – Sam Gambow (Form V)

  • Timmy Turner, Desiigner – Connor Blend (Form VII)
